MBBS in UK…… Russel group universities
Is it possible to get admission for MBBS in UK particularly to top ranking universities belonging to the “Russel Group” – the 24 elite public research universities.
Yes, but only if you are among the top students (95%+ in Class 12, top BMAT/UCAT scores, strong work experience, strong personal statement and excellent interview performance).
Oxford, Cambridge = Extremely difficult (~1-2% acceptance). Only 14 international students are admitted out of the total 150 seats available.
Imperial, UCL, King’s, Edinburgh, Manchester = Slightly better (~3-5% acceptance).
Work Experience: Volunteer at NGOs, old-age homes, or clinics.
Personal Statement: Strong personal motivation, experience and understanding of medicine as a career.
Interview (MMIs – Multiple mini interviews/ Panel):
If shortlisted, you must pass an interview.
Oxford has traditional panel interviews, while others (like Manchester, Edinburgh) use Multiple Mini Interviews (MMI).
They test critical thinking, problem-solving, ethical scenarios, and motivation for Medicine.
