Want to study in higher ranking university than IIT ?? but avoid the grind !!!

Every year more than 13 lakhs students fiercely compete for 17,000 thousand across 23 IITs. Among the students who qualify, majority may have been slogging from as early as 6th standard, sacrificing their weekends and holidays for this purpose. The sad part is that even those who qualify, majority may not be able to get through the stream or institute of their choice.

It’s high time, we start thinking differently. Is all this hype and grind worth it. Are there better and alternate options. If you are ready to put in one extra year after your plus 2, then Germany can be the answer to. The schooling system in Germany follows 13-year system whereas in India we have a 12-year schooling system. So, Indians wishing to study bachelors in Germany must study this 13th year in Germany, also known as Studienkolleg. For Engineering courses it would be T-course. During this 13th year, you will learning Maths, Physics, Chemistry and German Language. The Maths, physics and Chemistry is almost the same that you have covered in your 11th and 12th standard. 75% of the classes are devoted to German Language studies, so that by the time you have finished the Studienkolleg, your language is of C1 level.

If you have studied, maths, physics, chemistry in your plus 2, you can qualify for this T-course. In addition, you need to have German language upto B1 or higher level for getting admission to a studienkolleg.

At the end of the Studienkolleg, there is an exam called Fetselleprufung (FSP). Once a student clears this exam, they can apply to bachelors (Engineering) in top-ranking universities in Germany. A student who scores an average of around 80% in CBSE/ICSE can easily clear the FSP. The highest possible mark here is grade 1 and pass mark is grade 4. A student who scores between 2 – 3 grade and has above 80% in plus2, can easily get admission to any of the top ranking universities (TU Munich, RWTH Aachen university, Stutgart etc.) all these universities have higher ranking than any of the IITs in India.
